Aplagården Guest Farm

Aplagården is a Guest Farm for tourists looking for a relaxing country weekend get-away or vacation on a scenic working farm located in the beautiful region Västra Götaland in Sweden. We're easy to get to being located in central Sweden between Gothenburg and Stockholm, close to the quaint city of Tidaholm.

On Aplagården we breed American Morgan horses and Highland Cattle in addition to producing ecological hay and running a guest farm for visitors that want to enjoy our beautiful part of the world. Most of our guests come to relax, either with riding, fishing, golfing, moose-watching, canoing in beautiful river Tidan etc., or just to do some sightseeing in this old and cultural part of Sweden. The recent films about the the crusader Arn was set and filmed in this wonderful region of Skaraborg, and Aplagården is a great starting point for exploring the monasteries, cathedrals, churches, castles etc. made famous by the film and the novel.

Our guests stay on the farm or in our old homesteads located in the Hökensås Ridge and enjoy the good life on Aplagården. Find out more by clicking on the appropriate tabs on the start page.

We are also expecting several foals and lambs during the summer, and haying will be in early July when the weather permits. Our ponds are stocked with rainbow trouts waiting to be fished so we expect a lively summer with lots of activities as usual.

New for 2010 is an outdoor Valoriani woodfired oven from Tuscany where we plan to cook and serve succulent meals based on local ecological ingredients.

Throughout the year we hold various clinics on different topics ranging from problem horses to classical dressage in our indoor riding arena, and we train horse and rider on a one to one basis on different topics and levels. Companies, organisations, couples, families and individuals use the horses to improve teamwork, for personal growth and for improved communication skills when attending our clinics and work shops in Equine Assisted Training. Scandinavian visitors can read more about this under the tab " HesteBasert Läring".

We hope you will find our web page interesting, and that you will decide to visit us on your vacation or for weekends or special occasions.. Aplagården has plenty of space for various activities and is teeming with animals making it ideal for families as well as couples.

Although this web page is in English only so far, we'd like to clarify that we do speak the Scandinavian languages as well. Eva is Swedish and Eivind is Norwegian.

Welcome to Aplagården in 2010!
