Vacation on the homesteads

Stay at Eckornabacken, two fully equipped 60 m2 houses ( torps ) located at the highest point ( 335m. ) of  the Hökensås moraine ridge that stretches for 120 km. on the west bank of Lake Vättern, in the midst of the wilderness. It is a 10 minute drive from the farm. Each house has two bedrooms, livingroom, kitchen, and hall. The "new" torp that dates from the thirties, has a built in porch with windows all around that is ideal for watching the wildlife. The old "torp" dates from 1850 and has low ceilings and most of the original interior.

Enjoy total privacy and solitude.

The houses are approx. 100 meters apart and share the shower facilities, sink for doing the dishes and running water, in a separate house. Each house has its own private outhouse / dry toilet in a building outside each house.

You will be staying in the deep forest and you can enjoy watching the moose and deer graze outside the buildings. There are also lynx, the occational wolf etc. plus a formidable bird life ranging from eagles, hawks, owls, grouse etc. The views are spectacular and so is the nature here. Pick berries, mushrooms, spot wildlife, go for hikes in the woods or bike on a wide array of endless logging roads. Ideal and safe for children with no traffic. It takes approximately 15 minutes to bike or drive down to a wonderful, family- orientated beach that is located at lake Lilla Havssjön.

Enjoy the peace and tranquility of this old farm that 150 years ago housed many people before most of them emigrated to the US. Life was a struggle for most of them, but now the place is used for enjoyment and relaxation. A great place to catch up and enjoy the good life. The name of the farm is Eckornabacken that means Squirrel Hill.

Here you really can forget the stress of the city without sacrificing the convenience of electricity and a hot shower.

It takes only 15 minutes to drive back to civilization, though, for shopping or a latte in quaint Tidaholm.
